Make your first call
Three ways to record a call, what you'll see after each one, and what to do if it isn't recorded.
On this page
A call is your public pick of a token at a moment in time. ALPHA Network locks in the time, the price and the market cap the second you call, and nobody can edit it afterwards. That is why early calls are worth more.
Way 1: post a contract address in a hosted group#
This is the most common way. A hosted group is a Telegram group where the ALPHA Network bot has been switched on by its owner.
- Copy the token's contract address, or a DEX Screener or pump.fun link to it.
- Paste it into the group as a normal message and send it.
- The bot confirms the call. Depending on the group's settings you'll see one of these:
- a full card under your message with the entry market cap, liquidity and links;
- one line, like "📌 $TOKEN called by @you at $120K";
- a 🔥 reaction on your message;
- nothing at all (the group chose silent mode, but the call is still recorded).
Way 2: let Rick or Phanes scan it#
Many groups use the Rick or Phanes scanner bots. When Rick or Phanes replies to your message with a token card, ALPHA Network credits the call to you, the member they replied to.
- Post the contract address (or ask the scanner to scan it in reply to your message).
- Rick or Phanes replies with its usual card.
- If the bot is set up to confirm calls, you'll see a short note such as "📌 $TOKEN recorded as @you's call at $120K".
If ALPHA Network already recorded your contract post, the scan is simply attached to the same call. You never get two calls for one post.
Way 3: use /call or the buttons#
Works in your private chat with the bot, and in hosted groups.
- Send
/callfollowed by the contract address. You can add a call type and a conviction from 1 to 5:/call <address>records an alpha call with conviction 3./call <address> launch 5records a launch call with conviction 5.
- Or paste just the address to the bot. You'll get a scan card. Tap 🔥 Call it, then pick your conviction (1 to 5), 🚀 Launch call or 👀 Watch only.
- You'll see a card saying the call was recorded, with its entry market cap and a link to the call page.
Call types and conviction#
- Call types: alpha, momentum, breakout, launch, CTO, narrative and watch. Alpha is the default.
- Watch is tracked but never scored or rewarded. Use it for tokens you only want to follow.
- Conviction says how sure you are. A 4 counts as right if the call reaches 2x, and a 5 if it reaches 3x. See The Alpha Score.
What happens next#
- Tracked. The call is followed for 7 days by default: its peak, its lowest point and how fast it hit 2x, 5x and 10x.
- Alerts. The bot messages you at milestones (2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x, 100x) from your chosen level, if call alerts are on.
- Scored. After 24 hours by default the call "matures" and counts toward your Alpha Score. The bot sends you the result.
- Ranked and rewarded. Your score places you on the leaderboards and decides your share of each epoch's rewards.
If it isn't recorded#
The bot tells you why. The most common reasons:
| Message says | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "First called by …" | Someone posted this token here before you | Nothing. Only the first caller gets credit in a group |
| "You already called this token here" | Your earlier call on it is still being tracked | Nothing. Tracking continues on your original call |
| "Liquidity is … calls need at least …" | The token's pool is too small (default minimum $1,000) | Wait until it has more liquidity |
| "You called this token recently" | Same token again within 60 minutes | Try again after the time shown |
| "Daily limit reached" | 25 calls in the last 24 hours | Wait. Quality beats quantity |
| "This message is too old to count" | The message is older than 3 minutes | Post it again as a new message |
| "This group has not been activated yet" | The group isn't hosted yet | Ask a group admin to run /claim |
